UFC negotiates fight between Thiago Marreta and Magomed Ankalaev for March 2022

Brazilian and Russian are expected to captain the Ultimate event on March 12th, with no location yet defined

2021 hasn't even come to an end yet, but Ultimate is already starting to organize its schedule for next year. According to information from journalist Brett Okamoto, from North American ESPN, the organization is negotiating the duel between light heavyweights (up to 93 kg) Thiago Marreta e Magomed Ankalayev to captain a UFC Fight Night on March 12th, with no location yet defined.

Magomed Ankalayev It is another fruit of the strong Dagestan school, in Russia. Eight years younger than the Brazilian, at 29 years old, the Russian debuted in Ultimate in March 2018, being submitted by Paul Craig. Since then, however, Ankalaev has won seven consecutive fights, the last of which was against Volkan oezdemir, UFC 267, in October. The incredible sequence of victories took the Russian to sixth place in the rankings.

The current light heavyweight champion is Glover Teixeira, who won the title by finishing Jan Blachowicz in the main fight of UFC 267. The tendency is for the Brazilian to defend the title against the Pole Jiri Prochazka, placed second in the ranking.
