“I want to sincerely thank the gym owner and trainer, Nick Urso and everyone at 'Jackson's MMA' for allowing me to call your headquarters my 'new home'. I was very proud to see the condition of the gym, I was full of energy and I felt exactly like before. I have great memories of learning from GSP (Georges St-Pierre), Sugar Evans (Rashad evans), 'The Dean of Mean (Keith Jardine) and many others. (…) The best is yet to come”, wrote the North American, on his Instagram account.

The news doesn't stop there. Out of action for almost two years, Jones also went to Twitter and stated that it should not be long before he is seen on active duty.

“I'm only gone for a few more months now. I can't wait for whoever wins this fight in January (Francis Ngannou against Cyryl Gane)”, wrote the athlete, who once again expressed his interest in competing for the heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg).

Considered by many to be the best fighter of all time, Jon had his last fight in February 2020. On that occasion, the athlete beat Dominick reyes and was successful in yet another title defense. Months later, the athlete surprised by giving up the category title he had defended for more than 10 years.

Jones' justification was clear. The athlete was willing to test himself at heavyweight. From then on, the fighter began the process of gaining muscle mass to face the UFC's 'giants' on equal terms.

Expected in the category up to 120,2kg., 'Bones' ended up getting involved in controversies with the Ultimate board. Candidate for an immediate title fight, the athlete publicly demanded better payments. The action angered Dana White and his team and negotiations ended up not materializing.

Since then, Jon has continued training and his debut is expected to take place in 2022.
