The Ultimate organization made official, this Monday (24), the clash between bantamweights Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and Ivan Menjivar for UFC 165. The event is scheduled for September 21, in Toronto (Canada).
Yamamoto had a promising start to his career, suffering just one defeat in his first 19 fights – and achieving victories against the Brazilians Royler Grace, Rani Yaya e Bibiano Fernandes. Since then, the 36-year-old Japanese veteran has suffered five defeats and achieved just one victory, today having a record of 18 wins, six defeats and one unsuccessful fight.
His opponent, Ivan Menjivar, 31, should feel comfortable on fight night. After all, the athlete built a large part of his career fighting in events in Canada. On the two occasions he played for the UFC in the country, Menjivar emerged victorious. The fighter from El Salvador has a record of 25 wins and ten losses.
UFC 165 takes place on September 21st, at Air Canada Center, in Toronto (Canada). In the main fight of the night, the North American Jon Jones puts the Ultimate light heavyweight belt on the line against the Swede Alexander Gustafson.
