Willing to win the heavyweight belt (up to 120,2kg) in the Emirati event'Parus FC', Fábio Maldonado had a controversy in his fight against champion Sergei Kharitonov, last Friday (5). In an outcome that generated discussion in the MMA community, the Brazilian ended up being knocked out standing up and complained about the referee's early interruption of the fight.

Still in the first round of the duel, Kharitonov managed to land a right cross that shook Maldonado. Cornered next to the fence, the Brazilian defended himself and showed himself in the fight, but the referee decided to end the fight, with the Russian winning. The two athletes, in fact, did not understand the interruption and questioned him.

The referee was also booed by the audience, who protested about the early stoppage in the duel. Sergei thus continued to hold the title of 'Parus FC'. The Russian now has a record of 32 wins, eight losses and two fights without result.

Fábio Maldonado suffered his 16th defeat – the seventh by knockout – in his career. Professional since 2000, 'Caipira de Aço' has a record of 28 positive results and 16 negative results.
