With more than two months remaining until the fight that marks the unification of the UFC heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) belts, the atmosphere of rivalry between Francis Ngannou e Cyryl Gane starts to heat up. Last Saturday (6), the linear and interim champions of the division were present at the UFC 268 and they starred in a curious scene behind the scenes.

Cyryl Gane was with his coach Fernand Lopez backstage at the event, after the victory of Nassourdine Imavov about Edmen shahbazyan, in the moment that Francis Ngannou appeared and passed right by them, generating a “climate” in the place. In the video that captured the moment, you can hear a perplexed Gane questioning “why didn't he say hi?” in French.

Francis Ngannou e Cyryl Gane they were teammates at MMA Factory. The Cameroonian left the gym for Xtreme Couture after a disagreement with trainer Fernand Lopez, also present in the video. The linear heavyweight champion blamed his coach for the defeat to Stipe Miocic in the first title fight between the two, in 2018.

The heavyweight title unification between Ngannou and Gane is scheduled for the main fight of UFC 270, on January 22, 2022. The event also features the middleweight champion Israel adesanya defending the belt in a rematch against Robert whittaker.
