In the early hours of Saturday (06) to Sunday (07), Kamaru Usman defeated again Colby covington in a rematch held in the main fight of the UFC 268, at Madison Square Garden, in New York (USA). The victory marked the Nigerian's fifth successful defense of the welterweight (under 77 kg) belt.

In a very competitive fight, as it had been the first time they met, the champion emerged victorious in the judges' unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46). In a press conference held after the fight, UFC president Dana White made a point of praising Colby covington for his performance, but stated that, in his opinion, Usman is the best name in welterweight history.

“If Usman didn’t exist, Colby covington would be the champion. Usman is the best welterweight of all time. He's on his way to possibly being the greatest of them all. Colby covington He’s a tough guy, very tough,” said Dana White.

The second victory over Colby covington was the fifteenth of Kamaru Usman in the UFC. The Nigerian, who won the belt in 2019, has not yet been defeated since he debuted in the organization in 2015, and is just one triumph away from equaling the record for the longest winning streak in Ultimate, which belongs to Anderson Silva.
