A tragedy marred a boxing match held last Saturday (30), in Zimbabwe. In a clash promoted within professional rules, Taurai Zimunya, 23 years old, died after being brutally knocked out by his opponent. According to information from UOL, the athlete was taken to the hospital, but did not survive, dying this Monday (1).

In the images (see below), it is possible to notice the effusive exchange of blows between the combatants. Close to the ropes, Zimunya ended up being the victim of brutal combinations from his opponent, whose name was not revealed.
After resisting some attacks, Taurai appeared defeated in the confrontation, but continued to be severely punished. The confrontation only came to an end after the young man was hit by a withering attack, which made him collapse.
Also according to UOL, the Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Council stated that all emergency protocols had been complied with. The entity also claimed that the athlete received first aid at the scene of the incident.
To identify those responsible for the tragedy, an investigation will be opened.
