“Bellator sent an internal message denying the proposal. A. J. McKee he was angry that I had given up the lightweight belt, but he didn't respond when I challenged him to an 'all or nothing' fight. He should be pissed at himself, because if he responded when I called him out, it would be a big fuss for the press, fans would talk more and Bellator would be under pressure to hold (the match),” Pitbull said.

The Brazilian's criticism didn't just surround AJ. The athlete, despite saying he understood the reasons, placed some of the blame on the company.

“Honestly, I never thought this rematch would happen. I don't know what was going through my head. I know I have a history with Bellator, but right now, it seems like they have the right fighter. He's a kid raised by Bellator, an undefeated North American and the company wouldn't put Patrick Pitbull to end the reign of an American within a company in the country. I hope I get the chance and I think everyone believes I deserve to fight for the belt”, he concluded.

After the initial lack of interest from McKee and the organization, Patrício surprised. A few weeks ago, the Brazilian made public his decision to give up his second belt in the company.

At the time, the Bellator legend admitted his interest in focusing on a rematch with McKee for the featherweight title, a category that has made the Brazilian the biggest name in the company to date.
