A brutal knockout was the cause of controversy after the last edition of the 2021 season of the 'Contender Series', last Tuesday (1), in Las Vegas (USA). Representative of the featherweights (up to 65,7kg.), Jonas Bilharinho starred in a movie scene when he erased his opponent, Canaan Kawaihae, with a round kick in the fourth round. The surprise came later, when the Brazilian was not selected by Dana White to join the UFC athletes.

In the images (see below), it is possible to see the plastic blow connected by Jonas, who didn't even need to launch any more attacks to settle the bill. As soon as he landed the round shot, the Brazilian just opened his arms and waited for referee Herb Dean to interrupt.

Present at UFC Apex, Dana made a point of justifying Bilharinho's absence from the list of new hires. According to the agent, the Rio native did not show 'killer instinct' in the first two rounds, even though he won resoundingly in the last stage.

The confrontation on 'Contender' marked the Tupiniquim's 10th commitment as a professional in MMA. The fighter today has eight wins, one setback and one draw.

Another contract denied

Another Brazilian who won, but didn't convince the 'boss' was Erisson Silva, the 'Cat'. Representative of the flyweights (up to 56,7kg.), the athlete got past Lun Qiu and beat the Chinese in a unanimous decision by the judges.
