Who sees the consecrated Wanderlei Silva, immortalized by Pride titles, historic fights and a large gym in Las Vegas, cannot imagine the difficulties of his early life and career. “Crazy Dog” makes a point of always reminding, especially new generations, the obstacles he had to overcome to get to where he is today.

Last Thursday (13), he made a visit and lecture promoted by Sport Strategy to students at the Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Dona Angelina Maffei Vita, in the Casa Verde neighborhood, in São Paulo, and shared a little of his victorious trajectory .

A staunch defender of healthy lifestyle habits, Wand highlighted to the approximately 200 children the importance of education and sports to escape the world of drugs and in the search for peace. He used as an example of perseverance the times he had to fight without receiving anything, always looking for a better future and a life goal.

“I was world champion for six years, I have 50 professional fights, and thank God I get paid very well to do what I love. But I had to fight for free for 10 years. I had everything to give up, fall into temptations that would ruin my life, but I maintained the focus and willpower to continue. Because I knew that only then would I get where I wanted,” he said.

Surrounded by children and young people at school and always showing a lot of friendliness, Wanderlei highlighted the importance of knowledge, valuing school and the need to study in life. This always conveys messages of strength and encouragement to students’ self-confidence.

“No one is smarter than anyone else. What counts is the commitment and dedication you have in doing things. You only depend on yourselves,” he stated. “If you are lazy now, you will have to work hard when you are adults. The time is now. Take the opportunity to dedicate yourself and when you are adults things will come naturally. Believe you can. It's going to take work. But you can do it,” he concluded.
