Multi-time boxing champion, Claressa shields failed to shine in his second appearance as a professional in MMA. Icon of the 'noble art', the combatant did not have a good performance at PFL 10, held this Wednesday (27), in Florida (USA), and ended up canceled by Abigail Montes for almost 15 minutes. Victim of her opponent's falls, the boxer showed little progress and was defeated in a split decision by the judges.

The clash against Montes marked Shields' second challenge in mixed martial arts. After debuting with a knockout for the organization in June, the two-time Olympic champion once again demonstrated her deficiencies in her takedown defenses and showed that she still has a lot of room to improve.
With the result, Claressa, who has never been defeated in professional boxing, suffered a negative result for the first time. Now, the combatant has 50% in her career, with a triumph I stumble.
Responsible for ruining the boxer's party, Abigail has a lot to celebrate. The victory over the new PFL star expanded the fighter's good form, as she continues without losing in the sport in three appearances.
The fight
In the first round, there wasn't much action. Right at the beginning of the confrontation, Abigail closed the distance, dodging Shields' powerful hands. The duel continued to be fought behind bars, with the multi-time boxing champion under pressure. Outside her comfort zone, Claressa was able to produce little and was the victim of her opponent's grappling.
In the second stage, a script similar to the first. Montes soon closed the distance and went into a grappling fight. Shields managed to move away and connected two crosses on her opponent's face. Claressa started to loosen up and was looking for the knockout. At a disadvantage in the striking, Abigail looked for her legs and took the boxing champion to the ground. From below, the boxer was trying hard to stay on her feet, but Montes remained glued and did not allow her to escape. The confrontation ended with Abigail pressing Shields against the bars.
The last round started with Shields trying to erase the damage from the initial rounds. After another attack from the multi-time boxing champion, Montes returned to grappling and nullified her rival. Halfway through the round, Claressa managed to free herself and surrounded her opponent. The boxer threw an overhand right, which grazed her rival's face. After another attack from the boxer, Abigail took advantage of the oversight and managed to take her rival to the ground. On top, Montes threw blows from top to bottom and avoided his opponent's reaction. In the final seconds, Montes began to punish Shields with ground and pound, but there was no more time.
