Goodbye average. Pivot of a real controversy involving the weight cut for the UFC Las Vegas 41, Paulo borrachinha may have said goodbye to the 83,9kg category. After two changes to the contract for the clash against Marvin vettori and a clash held in the under-93kg group., Ultimate's president, Dana White, ruled out the Minas Gerais native's return to the group for which he gained notoriety in MMA. The information was released by the 'big boss', at the press conference after the Tupiniquim's defeat against the Italian.

“We will definitely tell him in the category that he will fight, when something like this happens. He will have to fight at light heavyweight (up to 93kg.)”, assured White.
At the beginning of the week, Paulo caused controversy by confirming that he would not be able to reach the weight established in the contract, close to 89,3kg. In a press conference promoting the event, the Brazilian stated that the fight would continue at catchweight. After that, the agreed agreement reached 88,5kg.
Even with a new commitment made, Borrachinha continued to have problems in the weight cutting process. Unable to reach the agreed amount, the duel was finally confirmed in the light heavyweight division.
In the top division, Paulo once again showed the aggression that led him to his first UFC title fight. The athlete, however, ended up defeated by Vettori in a unanimous decision by the judges, after 25 minutes of a true battle.
