“I missed the weight cut three times while fighting for the UFC. Even though I knew it would be difficult, I still tried to reach the limit and didn't look for a fight at catchweight because I was too lazy. Costa (Borrachinha) wants glory, but without working for it. I never made excuses or jumped out,” Johnson said on his social media.
The controversy surrounding the main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 41 became public after, at a press conference, Vettori stated that the Brazilian was having problems with the scale. Afterwards, the Brazilian himself stated that he would not be able to reach the limit established for middleweights (up to 83,9kg.).
In an interview with 'ESPN', Paulo and Marvin reached a verbal agreement for a match at catch weight. Later, Ultimate made it official that the contest would be held with a limit of up to 88,5kg.
Last Thursday night, another change. The clash, which would take place in the 88,5kg category, will now be held in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg).
Vettori's manager, Ali Abdelaziz also criticized Borrachinha for his conduct. On social media, the agent accused the miner of disrespecting his professional colleagues, in addition to wishing the confrontation was cancelled.
