Last Thursday (21), during his new program “Debate DC”, Daniel Cormier got into this discussion with the fans. According to the former UFC light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) champion, the life of Fedor Emelianenko It would have been very complicated if it had closed with Ultimate between 2009 and 2011, a time when negotiations were stronger.

"Against Brock Lesnar, all good. I think he would win Brock Lesnar. But other than that, I don't think Fedor would compete very well in the UFC. I think the fact that he didn't go gives us pause, but the reality of the situation is that he wouldn't do well against guys like Junior Gypsy, he would not defeat Cain Velazquez, he would have difficulties with guys like Cheick Kongo”, analyzed DC.

According to a Daniel Cormier, if he had signed with the UFC at the time, Fedor Emelianenko it would be just one of the organization's heavyweights.

“As great as he was, at that time in the sport, he would have been average at best. Fedor Emelianenko in the UFC between 2009 and 2011 it would be average at best”, said Cormier.

Daniel Cormier, however, made clear the respect he has for Fedor Emelianenko as one of the great names in the history of the sport. For the former champion and now Ultimate commentator, Fedor's greatest difficulty in the octagon would be in relation to speed.

“Guys weren’t so unique in their abilities anymore. By the time Fedor went to the UFC, his speed had already started to decrease, and that's when he would encounter difficulties. Fedor's hand speed at the beginning of his career was absurd, that's why he did what he did with people. As he got older, at that time he would hit Brock Lesnar because Brock Lesnar I wouldn't have wanted to get hit by him and I would have turned myself in, but these other guys were real fighters. They would keep tackling him and as he got slower, they would find ways to break him and come out with the win,” Cormier said.

Lastly, Daniel Cormier revealed what, in his opinion, would be the only chance of Fedor Emelianenko win the UFC heavyweight belt.

“The only way for him to get a belt would be to fight directly against Brock Lesnar for the title”, he concluded.
