Businessman denies rumor about Petr Yan's early retirement: 'He loves to fight'

Sayat Abdrakhmanov highlighted the Russian's love for the sport to deny rumors that the former champion may 'hang up his gloves' early

Businessman Sayat Abdrakhmanov denied the rumor that Petr yan would be planning an early career retirement. In an interview with the website ‘The All Star’, the agent was asked about the subject and cited the former bantamweight champion’s (up to 61,2kg) passion for the sport to justify his answer.

“There is no such plan. In his mind, he wants to make as much money and make as many title defenses as possible before he turns 30. And after that, who knows what will happen. I don't believe he will retire at 30, because Petr yan He's a guy who loves to fight. He loves being in a cage. The only time you can see him smiling when he's beating someone is when he's in the Octagon. So he's not the guy who's going to retire early. He loves it,” Abdrakhmanov said.

It does not stop there. Sayat also revealed the desire to Petr yan being in big fights and making a lot of money in MMA. If that doesn't happen, then the Russian might consider 'hanging up his gloves'.

“He’s just a guy who doesn’t want to be in some fights. He wants to be in big fights and wants to make a lot of money by facing the toughest opponents available. If that is not in question, perhaps he could consider retirement. But I don’t believe this will happen in two years,” he concluded.

Considered one of the biggest names in the division, Yan was the current champion when he suffered his first defeat in almost five years. At the UFC 260, in March of this year, the Russian was disqualified after landing an illegal knee on Sterling. With the judges' decision, Petr lost the fight and the category belt. He is now fighting for the interim belt against Cory Sandhagen, UFC 268 of the 6th of November.
