The information was confirmed by the Luke Rockhold through a video published on social media. The American revealed a herniated disc and regretted not being able to fight at the event in New York.
“There's no easy way to say this, but the fight in New York is cancelled. I ended up developing a herniated disc in my back, L4, L5, and the doctors said I can't play with that. I need to undergo treatment and have a certain amount of recovery time. Some things are just not meant to be. New York, f***ing New York. Sorry to friends, family and everyone, but I will be back. Until next time”, said Rockhold.
The duel against Sean Strickland No. UFC 268 would be the first of Luke Rockhold since July 2019, when he was knocked out by the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) Jan Blachowicz No. UFC 239. Furthermore, it would be the fighter's return to the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg), where he was champion in 2015.
