My trainers, physical trainers and my wrestling coach sell the equipment he wore around his neck and I don’t believe he’s coming back,” said Dillashaw.

After winning the belt in a controversial way due to the disqualification of the former champion Petr yan for an illegal coup, aljamain sterling underwent neck surgery to correct a chronic problem that has haunted him since his college days. According to Dillashaw, who is also recovering from surgery after the victory against Cory Sandhagen, Sterling is attached to the belt and trying to keep it for as long as he can.

“I think he’s just keeping the belt for as long as he can. I already had that feeling when he gave up the fight, I wasn't surprised. I bet he's dealing with nerve damage and a lot of things. You twist your neck like he did, it's definitely not good. We will see. I could be totally wrong, but I don't know if he'll fight again”, concluded the former champion.

Until Sterling returns, Petr yan e Cory Sandhagen face each other for the interim bantamweight belt in the co-main fight of UFC 267, on October 30, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
