Alex Cowboy fights evenly, but suffers defeat to Niko Price and finds himself in a critical situation in the UFC

Brazilian feels the 'bitter taste' of three consecutive defeats in the organization after losing to the North American in the unanimous decision of the judges

It wasn't this time that Alex Cowboy he once again felt the taste of victory in Ultimate. This Saturday (2), in a veterans duel valid for UFC Las Vegas 38, the Brazilian was surpassed by Niko Price in a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) and, now, the franchise is in a delicate situation – with three consecutive defeats.

Cowboy, in fact, had come in excited and celebrated when he was announced by Bruce Buffer before the fight. With the result, however, he suffered his sixth setback in eight appearances, having a record of 22 positive results, 11 negative results, one draw and two 'no result' fights.

The experienced Price alleviates his moment in his career and wins, as a bonus, his 15th career triumph. The North American has a record of 15 wins, five defeats and two draws.

The fight

Cowboy studied before taking action in the first minute, while Price invested in low kicks. Then, Niko tried to take him down, Alex reversed the situation and his opponent still ended up on top. On top, the North American progressed to half guard, where he was for most of the round. In the break, Alex Cowboy highlighted that Niko Price 'was strong' in the duel.

On the way back, Cowboy was more attentive and managed to connect good kicks when he got closer. The Brazilian even dodged Price's initiatives and felt at ease. In one of the moments, in the middle of the round, Alex took advantage of Niko's imbalance and fell on top, where he was in a dominant position and managed to hurt his opponent.

In a lively and decisive round, the two athletes went for 'all or nothing' and exchanged hard blows at close range. Cowboy, in fact, dominated the action when he received a cross to the chin. Still, he remained standing and continued to hit Price. In the final stretch, Alex appeared to be more tired than Niko, but still managed to hit his opponent. After 40 seconds, the Brazilian tried to catch him for a takedown, but the North American managed to reverse the situation and land on top, a position in which he remained until the end of the fight.

With a severe weight cut, Misha Cirkunov did not have a good debut in the middleweight category (up to 83,9kg.). In a three-round duel, the Latvian suffered from the initiatives and pressure play of Krzysztof Jotko, being overcome in a split decision by the judges (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

Cirkunov, therefore, finds himself in a difficult position in his career, as he has not won an official fight in two years. The veteran even feels the 'bitter taste' of his seventh defeat. He also has 15 wins.

Brutal! At the opening of the main card of the UFC Las Vegas 38 this Saturday (2), valid for the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg.), Alexander Hernandez there was no room and, with an aggressive style, he knocked out Mike Breeden in a cross in the first round.

Hernandez is now recovering from a defeat against the Brazilian Thiago Moses in his last performance. Professional since 2012, he has a record of 13 triumphs and three setbacks.

On the other hand, Breeden had taken the fight with just a week of preparation and, after a frustrated stint on the 'Contender Series', he debuted in Ultimate on the 'left foot'. With just four years in MMA, he has ten positive results and four negative results.
