After avenging the only defeat suffered in his career by defeating Douglas Lima in the main fight of Bellator 267, the obvious way to Michael Page would be to fight for the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg), which belongs to Ukrainian Yaroslav Amosov. After all, despite having 17 fights and 16 wins, six of which were consecutive, in the organization, the Brit never fought for the title.

In a press conference held at the end of Bellator 267, Michael Page spoke about the subject. After open the doors to a possible trilogy against Douglas Lima, the “MVP” reiterated that he doesn’t care about the belt and questioned how many Bellator champions are capable of doing what he does.

PUBLICITY:

“I tell people this from the beginning and I don’t think anyone listens. I don't care about the title. It's a belt, who cares? Many belt holders are nowhere near as popular as I am. That does not mean anything. For me it doesn't say anything. How many Bellator champions could do what I did? I say with confidence that many could not do what I did today,” explained Page.

Still on the subject, the Brit stated that he struggles to prove things to himself and attributed his popularity to this.

PUBLICITY:

“People like me for the way I enjoy the sport, not because I'm chasing something. It's more about my journey. I want to prove things to myself”, said the MVP.
