One of those responsible for the growth of MMA, Silva has not fought professionally since his defeat to Quinton jackson, in 2018, with Bellator gloves. The athlete never hid his desire to revive the rivalry with Belfort, which began in the 1990s.

In his first encounter with the 'Phenomenon', Wanderlei ended up feeling the power of his opponent, when he was knocked out less than a minute into the fight, at a UFC event held in Brazil. More than 20 years have passed and the combatants are still rehearsing a rematch.
