The renegotiation of the Brazilian's contract Anderson Silva with the UFC it seems to have been a little different from what was reported. In an interview with the website MMA Junkie, Spider revealed that his initial intention was not to renew for another ten fights, as happened, but to renew for four more fights.

“Maybe there is some contradiction lost in translation. I wanted to do four more fights and they said eight. So I said, 'Whatever. Let's do eight, ten. Let’s do as many fights as you want’. They jumped on that bandwagon and offered me ten fights, and that’s what I signed,” said the middleweight champion.

The length of Anderson's contract surprised fans, as the Brazilian had just turned 38 and, considering his annual average number of fights, the ten scheduled fights suggest that Spider will fight until 2019 – when he will be 44 years old. But the fighter himself questioned the fulfillment of this long commitment.

“It all depends. Ten fights is about six years, so we'll see what happens in the meantime. I hope that I'm still inspired and that I still have the willpower and desire to go out there and fight. But Im happy. I am treated well by Dana (White) and Lorenzo (Fertitta) and everyone in the UFC, and I hope to continue to have the desire to fight and train. But it's a matter of time. We have to move forward and see what will happen in the coming years”, concluded Anderson.
