Anderson Silva He has never hidden that he dreams of facing Roy Jones Jr., one of the greatest boxers in history, when his UFC career comes to an end. About five years after expressing his desire for the first time, the UFC middleweight champion returned to the subject.
In an interview with the American newspaper New York Post, Anderson spoke about the much talked about superfights involving his name against the also dominant champions Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre in the UFC. However, in the interview with The Post, Anderson said he is “much, much more interested” in facing Roy Jones than a champion vs. champion fight in the UFC.
“I think everyone has something they’re focused on,” Anderson told The Post. “This is my desire, it is something I would like to do. Maybe one day, when my UFC career ends, I’ll have a boxing match against Roy Jones Jr,” he commented.
Regarding superfights, Anderson is reticent, but does not rule out the possibilities. “You can think and think and think and look for things, but you may never find them. It’s hard for me to think about that.” But a battle against Roy Jones is preferable to any of the proposed superfights. “That’s something I’m really interested in doing… Maybe Dana White should do that fight (against Jones Jr.).”
