Zé Hive was caught in the anti-doping test for using the substance ritalinic acid after his victory over Alan Baudot, on July 17th. In addition to having his victory annulled and turned into a No Contest (no result), the Brazilian was suspended for six months and fined US$1945,36 (approximately R$10).

Besides Zé Hive, another heavyweight caught in the anti-doping test was Chris Barnett. The American received a four and a half month suspension and a fine of US$1036,80 (approximately R$5,4) after testing positive for marijuana use in his defeat to Ben Rothwell in May. In June, the Nevada Athletic Commission announced that marijuana use would no longer result in punishment for fighters, but Barnett's case does not fit the new rule, as he was tested before the change. As the punishment is retroactive, the athlete will be able to return to fight from October 6th.

The third fighter caught in anti-doping was the veteran Daniel Pineda, who received a nine-month suspension and a fine of US$2554,38 (approximately R$13,5) after testing positive for amphetamine in the fight against André Fili, in June. In this case, the fight had already been declared “no result” due to a poke in the eye received by Pineda, who was unable to continue the fight.
