A new chapter in the rivalry between Brandon Moreno e Deiveson Figueiredo was announced for the UFC 269, which takes place on December 11th, and opened a discussion about the path taken by Ultimate. And, in a press conference held this Tuesday (21), the organization's president, Dana White, explained the decision for a trilogy.

“We were going to have another fight – with Pantoja (and Moreno). I don't know if he got hurt, but something happened and, when he left the fight, we went looking for a trilogy. It was the only thing that made sense and both fighters wanted it,” said White.

With a two-game winning streak, Alexandre pantoja got closer to a title fight by finishing Brandon royval in August and had an advantage over Deiveson Figueiredo for having already won Brandon Moreno on two occasions – one being in the 'The Ultimate Fighter' and another in the UFC itself. He, however, asked for time to recover from a knee injury and the organization chose not to wait for him.

The first time Deiveson and Brandon faced each other was on UFC 256, in December 2020. At the time, the Brazilian was the belt holder and defended the title by drawing with the Mexican. However, in the rematch, Moreno proved superior and submitted him in the second round.
