The weekend was one of relief for the experienced Phil Davis. Chosen to 'welcome' the dangerous Yoel romero at Bellator, in a clash held this Saturday (18), the North American had a dominant performance and was 'thankful' for coming out unscathed against the veteran. In a press conference after the show, the athlete spoke about the confrontation.

“He (Romero) hit me a few times on the top of the head, on the forehead. It still hurts, even if they weren't full on. What should it be like if you get hit with everything? I’m glad I’ll never know (laughs),” Davis said.
Although he is relieved not to have been one of the Cuban's victims, Davis was far from shining against the former challenger for the UFC middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg). During 15 minutes of competition, the show's protagonists produced little and the confrontation was decided by a split decision by the judges.
As usual, Phil found triumph using grappling. After a balanced first round, the North American took control of the duel and gave his rival few chances.
With the victory, Davis, who was already light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), moves closer to a new fight for the belt. Today, the title belongs to Vadim nemkov, responsible for his latest career stumble.
