The Saturday of Glover Teixeira He already had everything to be unforgettable with his fourth victory in four fights for the UFC. The Minas Gerais native once again took no notice of an opponent, submitted James Te Huna in just over two minutes and saw his name being mentioned more and more as a candidate to challenge Jon Jones.
One of the people who affirmed Glover's potential was Mike Tyson. The former world boxing champion was a VIP presence throughout the weekend UFC 160. After the Brazilian's victory over the New Zealander, the star went up to the Octagon to congratulate Teixeira, who was thrilled to say he was a fan of the American since he was a boy.
“He told me: 'You're going to be champion, you fight well,'” Glover said in an interview with the American channel FUEL TV. “When I met him in the locker room, I said I was a fan of his and that I watched his fights hidden from my father when I was 13 years old. I also told him that I watched the best moments of his fights before mine, that that motivated me. Today Dana took him inside to hug me. It was amazing!"
Tyson's presence after the fight had the opposite effect on Glover than when the light heavyweight saw him moments before the fight. Positioned in the front row, Tyson was spotted by Teixeira, who was nervous about his idol's presence. “I was a little nervous,” Glover confirmed. “At the time I thought, 'I need to move my head like Mike Tyson I did, I can't get caught in a punch and be knocked out in front of him'. With Chuck (Liddell) there I was already scared of something happening, but with Tyson there it was a little more pressure.”
