Sharp, Gilbert Durinho accuses Leon Edwards of 'running away' from fights in the welterweight division: 'It's a farce'

Brazilian remembers English fight with Jorge Masvidal and considers that 'Rocky' doesn't like performing in the Octagon

The declaration of Leon edwards that he would wait for a chance at the welterweight title (up to 77kg.) bothered Gilbert Durinho. On his social networks, the Brazilian criticized the Englishman's stance and, with harsh words, accused him of 'running away' from some of the main names in the category.

It does not stop there. Gilbert also recalled Leon's 'feud' with Jorge masvidal backstage at a UFC event in England, in 2019. On that occasion, the North American even attacked 'Rocky', but the fight never actually took place. For the Brazilian, the Englishman asks for a fight against 'Jesus das Ruas', but ends up going back on signing the contract.

“Man, that doesn’t make sense to me. First, the guy (Jorge masvidal) hits you with three pieces and a soda (combination of punches) in your country and nothing happened. You have been asking for this fight for years and asked again last month, but now you refuse the fight. Is it just me (who thinks that) or does this guy not like fighting? It’s crazy”, asked the Brazilian.

While Leon edwards plans to wait for a title shot, Gilbert Durinho There is no fight scheduled yet. The category, however, continues to move forward with the rematch between Kamaru Usman e Colby covington, in a fight valid for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.)
