O card preliminary of UFC 160 It showed busy fights and some quite bloody. In the main fight of the first portion of the event, Mike pyle survived a knockdown in the first round and turned the fight against Rick story by winning the next two partials. In the judges' official count, two scored 29-28 for Pyle while one scored the same in favor of Story.
Another fight that ended in a split decision, but with a controversial result, was between featherweights Dennis Bermudez e Max Holloway. Holloway landed more hard punches in the first two rounds, including some plastic kicks. The persistent Bermudez recovered in the third and managed to control his opponent. However, in the official score, two judges saw Bermudez winning 29-28, while the first judge scored Holloway winning by the same score.
The event began with a bloodbath. Debuting as a featherweight, Jeremy Stephens overcame Estevan payan, who had his first fight in the UFC. Despite bleeding profusely throughout almost the entire fight, Payan held on until the end and was defeated by unanimous decision.
