The subject doesn't rest even in the week in which the main world MMA belt will be at stake. Two days before UFC 160, which will be headlined by the defense of the Cain Velazquez, once again the superfight between two of the greatest fighters of our time returns to the fore.
Participating in the Gametime program, on CBS Atlanta radio, UFC president Dana White once again spoke about the long-awaited clash between Anderson Silva, middleweight champion and leader of the official weight-for-pound ranking, and Jon Jones, light heavyweight champion and second in the same classification.
“(Anderson) Silva has a fight coming up on July 6th. He will face Chris Weidman. A lot of people think this fight is a big risk to his record, his title and everything else. But if he passes this test with Weidman, we could see that superfight (against Jones) later this year.”
Jon Jones He last fought on April 27th, when he won Chael Sonnen and equaled the record of five consecutive defenses of the category belt with Tito Ortiz. Anderson will step into the octagon against Weidman on the eve of completing a year since his last defense, the victory over the same Sonnen at UFC 148. However, between the two defenses, Anderson had another test as a light heavyweight in October, when he knocked out Stephan bonnar at UFC Rio 3.

For me, both Anderson and Jones are afraid to fight against each other, due to their histories. And a loss now in the fight record that each one has would be a huge burden. But without a doubt, it would be a fight that would stop the four corners of the world to watch.
