Khabib hopes Islam Makhachev becomes the first fighter to submit Rafael dos Anjos

Owner of eight consecutive victories in Ultimate, Islam makhachev will face the biggest challenge of his career on October 30th, when he faces the former champion Rafael dos Anjos No. UFC 267, in Abu Dhabi. Makhachev's tutor, Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about his pupil's next challenge.

In an interview with RT Sport channel, Khabib Nurmagomedov highlighted the experience of Rafael dos Anjos as the main danger for Islam makhachev in the duel at the end of October.

“Dos Anjos is very experienced. He fought five rounds many times and faced several good fighters. Look, he faced me, he faced Kamaru (Usman), (Colby) Covington, Paul (Felder), a lot of fighters. He faced (Eddie) Alvarez. He has a lot of experience. In many big fights, experience can be an ace in the hole”, analyzed Khabib.

Despite respecting the experience of Rafael dos Anjos, Khabib showed confidence in the victory of Islam makhachev and stated that he hopes that his pupil becomes the first fighter to submit the Brazilian.

“So here’s how I see this fight, because I faced dos Anjos too. I would like Islam to take him down in the first rounds, put the wrestling pressure on him, then he will be ready. It would be great if Islam submitted him on the ground because I can't remember anyone submitting from Anjos on the ground. He was dominated, but not finished. Covington, Kamaru, me, we all dominated him on the ground, but we couldn't finish him. I think it would be a great message if Islam was the first fighter to do this to him”, concluded Khabib.
