On his official 'Instagram' account, the boxer published a video in the hospital, reported that he is vaccinated and planned to return to the ring at the end of this year.

“I would like you to know that, even though I am vaccinated, I caught COVID and will not be able to fight next weekend. Preparing for this return has been everything for me these past few months, and I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support. I'm currently in the hospital receiving treatment and I'm confident I'll be back in the ring before the end of the year. God bless you all and stay safe,” De La Hoya wrote.
With the departure of 'Golden Boy', the event acted quickly and opted to replace him with Evander Holyfield. Now, the former rival of Mike Tyson is one of the protagonists of the night and performs the main event against Vitor belfort.
In his boxing career, De La Hoya has a record of 39 wins and six losses as a professional. Furthermore, the North American also managed to become an Olympic gold medalist at the Barcelona games in 1992.
