AJ McKee says he has no preference for an opponent and plans to move up to lightweight

The new featherweight champion showed no concern about who his next opponent will be and spoke about his desire to change divisions

New Bellator featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg), A. J. McKee he is not worried about who his next opponent will be. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the 'Mercenário' made a point of emphasizing that he is 'the guy in the division', declared that he doesn't care who his next opponent will be and spoke about his desire to move up to the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg).

“At the end of the day, I don't care. I'm the man now, which is kind of weird. I'm the A side in all these fights. Anyone can try to come and get it. I'm going to kick ass to say it was me. That’s the old ‘McKee medicine,’” AJ said.

The American stated that he intends to defend the featherweight belt 'one or two more times' and then move up to the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg).

“I’m not trying to sit out. I want another fight before the end of the year, whether it's boxing or MMA. Whatever we do, I need to get back there. I'm not hurt, so I'm going to chase it. Maybe I can defend once or twice, then I'll go to lightweight. Let's see what happens. If Patrício doesn't want to fight me, cool. I’m going to fight someone else,” concluded McKee.
