Adesanya's executioner in kickboxing, Alex Poatan will sign with UFC after title defense at GLORY, says website

Striking legend, Brazilian will follow in the footsteps of the Nigerian who, today, holds the Ultimate middleweight belt

Considered one of the best representatives of striking in martial arts, Alex Poatán is close to being confirmed as the UFC's newest signing. According to 'The Telegraph', the GLORY legend will follow in the footsteps of one of his 'victims', Israel adesanya, and will sign a contract with Ultimate. The agreement will be sealed after the Brazilian's fight against Artem Vakhitov, which takes place this Saturday (24), and is valid for the light heavyweight title.

Feared for his powerful and precise hands, Poatan will have the opportunity to repeat a confrontation with Adesanya. In 2017, the Nigerian became a statistic when he succumbed to the Brazilian with a knockout, under the rules of kickboxing.

If the migration to the UFC is confirmed, Alex will arrive at the company with the intention of facing Israel, owner of the middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg) since 2019. In recent years, the Nigerian has enchanted some of the spectators with brilliant performances .

Although he became known in martial arts for his kickboxing achievements, Poatan will not arrive in the UFC without experience. The athlete has four professional appearances in MMA and, in his last fight in the sport, in November 2020, for LFA, he defeated Thomas Powell with a knockout in the first round.

In kickboxing, Alex has an impressive resume. Professional in the sport since 2012, the 34-year-old athlete has won 33 victories in clashes.
