The fight that opened the main card of the ninth edition of the PFL in 2021, an event held this Friday (27), featured a frustrating episode for the Brazilian Cezar Mutant. After striking the first blow in combat against Martin Hamlet, the athlete ended up suffering a thigh injury and, as a result, was unable to advance to the finals of the light heavyweight tournament (up to 93kg.).

Despite coming in second in the rankings, Mutante was defeated in his last two fights. With the defeat, the Brazilian loses the chance to get closer to the dream prize of US$ 1 million (around R$ 5,2 million), paid to the Grand Prix champion. In his career, he feels the 'bitter taste' of his tenth setback, in addition to having 14 other victories.
Third in the rankings, Hamlet is one step away from being the next millionaire in the PFL light heavyweights (up to 93kg). The Norwegian has now achieved his most important victory in his career – his eighth in his career. He also has two other defeats.
The fight
The two greeted each other and began the fight respectfully and the first initiative was Cezar Mutant, who threw a left kick at Martin Hamlet at the waist line. He, when supporting his leg, felt a 'sting' in his right – and supporting – leg. At the same moment, he accused, shouted and was unable to continue the duel.
Without a scratch, Hamlet left celebrating in the decagon and didn't even need to throw any blows to confirm his participation in the Grand Prix final.
