Number one lightweight, Dustin Poirier indicates possible migration to welterweight in the future

Close to a title fight, 'Diamante' showed interest in moving up a category and declared interest in some fights in the under-77,1kg category

Close to the lightweight belt dispute (up to 70,3kg), Dustin poirier indicated that he may soon venture into a new weight range. The former interim champion of the category declared that he is capable of fighting in the welterweight division (up to 77,1kg) and showed interest in a possible migration.

"Of course. They're big guys, but we'll see. I can definitely fight at welterweight. At light weight, my metabolism accelerated. When I was at featherweight, I was much heavier than I am now in fights. My body was getting messed up. I reached 86 kg when I was fighting at featherweight. Now, I weigh no more than 82 kg. That's as far as I can go, but I think I could fight at welterweight too. There are some fun fights there”, said Poirier in an interview with the American 'ESPN'.
