As it was his first test in the sport, Kalyl did not hide the fact that there was some tension before the confrontation. The athlete, thus, narrated the moments that preceded the show.

“I was very focused and a little nervous, too. It was a relief when I finished the fight,” said Silva.

Will we see Kalyl in MMA?

Son of one of the biggest names in the history of mixed martial arts, it is inevitable that the topic of a possible test in the sport comes up. After the success in his first amateur kickboxing fight, the fighter responded about a possible migration to MMA.

“For now, I’m not even thinking about it. As it was my first amateur fight, I'm going to focus more on kickboxing. Who knows, in the future?”, said the fighter.

Comparisons with Anderson Silva

The successful debut in the amateur fight, with the right to 'dance' the opponent, gives rise to certain comparisons between Kalyl and his father. Although the young man is still beginning his journey in a different sport to the one in which 'Spider' enchanted the world, his son spoke calmly about the moments in which he can be seen as a reflection of the former UFC champion.

“Of course, there is pressure. Mainly fighting, my brother (Gabriel Silva) fighting. I try not to focus too much on these things and do what I do best, which is training. There are always (comparisons). Sometimes I even like the comparisons, because I'm a fan of him as a fighter. Being compared to him is incredible, but it’s not something that worries me,” he said.

Fighter vein

Willing to pursue his career as a fighter, Kalyl told how the sport came into his life. With a great reference at home, the athlete revealed that it was not difficult to find his passion for the sport.

“We (Kalyl and his brother) have been training since seven, eight years. So, it was always something that was there with us, an option. I grew up doing taekwondo, judo, muay thai. When my brother started doing amateur kickboxing, he awakened a little something. I said: 'man, I want to do it too'. I’ve been competing my whole life,” he explained.

Father's rival as a reference?

The successful start in kickboxing increases Kalyl's commitment to the sport. To evolve more and more, the fighter seeks references in the sport and, interestingly, one of them has already shared the octagon with Anderson Silva, a few years ago.

“One of the guys I watch the most is the current UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg), Israel adesanya. I watch a lot of his kickboxing fights. I look up to him a lot”, he revealed.

What to expect from Kalyl?

As far as Kalyl Silva is concerned, the attack on Anthony Reynaga was just the beginning of a successful trajectory in martial arts. Without hesitation, the athlete assured that combat sports fans can keep an eye out, as there are more shows to come.

“Expect a show in the next fight. In every fight, I want to put on a show. My style is very different. I try to model myself on several fighters and create my own style”, he concluded.
