Previously, the Brazilian confirmed his interest in a farewell fight in his home country, but he will not have his 'last dance' in Ultimate. He even highlighted that he received a survey to work in the organization promoted by Chael Sonnen, Submission Underground, which deals exclusively with grappling fights. For Maia, this is a pleasant possibility.

Professional since 2001, Demian stood out in the welterweight (up to 77kg) and middleweight (up to 83,9kg) divisions, where he competed for the belts of different divisions. Maia, today, is the Brazilian with the most victories in the organization – with 22 fights. At 43 years old, he has a career record of 28 wins and 11 losses.
