With a boxing fight scheduled, Anderson Silva explains why he doesn't believe in a duel against 'idol' Roy Jones Jr

Despite still highlighting that he is inspired by the boxer, 'Spider' shows pessimism about a possible superfight in the future

If the dream of Anderson Silva was to face the 'idol' Roy Jones Jr., the fight could only remain in his fantasy. In preparation for combat against Tito Ortiz in boxing, which is scheduled to take place on September 11th, the 'Spider' states that he continues to have admiration for the boxer, but was pessimistic about a possible duel.

“Firstly, I respect and am a big fan of Roy Jones. I try to copy him my whole life because he's amazing. But I don't think that fight will happen now. I keep in touch a lot with Mr. Roy Jones and he talked to me when I fought Chavez Jr. to give me good luck. But I don't think the fight will happen anymore because of that,” said Silva at a press conference to promote his next fight.

While denying the possibility of a confrontation against Jones Jr, the 'Spider' is preparing for his second duel since returning to boxing. The Brazilian agreed to face the former UFC champion and member of the select group of fighters in the 'Hall of Fame', Tito Ortiz.

MMA legend, Anderson Silva He swapped his Ultimate gloves for boxing gloves and, at 46, showed that he can still be competitive in the sport. In his last appearance, he beat Júlio Cesar Chávez Jr., in June, in Mexico.
