UFC 159 has the second biggest pay-per-view sales of the year

Event sold more than 500 thousand subscriptions; annual record remains with UFC 158

Initial sales estimates for pay-per-view of UFC 159, held on April 27th, indicate that the event was the second with the highest sales in 2013. The data, released by the website MMA fighting, point out that the number of PPVs sold was between 520 and 550 thousand.

The record of the year still belongs to UFC 158, which featured a welterweight title fight between Georges St Pierre e Nick Diaz as the main combat. The fight night in Canada generated around 800 PPV units sold.

UFC 159 took place on April 27th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey (USA). In the main fight of the night, the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defended his title for the fifth consecutive time by winning Chael Sonnen by technical knockout in the first round.
