Dustin Poirier denies deal for fight against Nate Diaz and leaves mystery about his future in the lightweight division

the future of Dustin poirier in Ultimate is uncertain since 'Diamond' won the trilogy against Conor McGregor and now the enigma has gained another chapter. In an exclusive interview with 'MMA Hour', the North American denied that he is close to an agreement to fight against Nate diaz.

“You know what these negotiations are like. Unless they are talking to him (Nate diaz) and say something, nothing was offered to me. I haven't spoken to the UFC. I can't say the same about Nate, but I think they'll call me soon (…). He's a fighter I've watched for a long time and I really think our styles mesh well. It would be a great fight. There is a possibility that it could happen, but it is not next on my list of fights,” said Poirier.

Coming from three consecutive victories, Dustin is in a comfortable situation in the organization and has been a target of desire for most fighters in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg), including Charles of the Bronx. As such, he feels a title fight makes the most sense next.

“I think I'm No. 1 and I should be fighting for the belt. I heard people saying that this (fighting Charles of the Bronx) will happen in December, but I don't know what will happen (…), I feel like (my next performance) will be for the world title. That's what makes the most sense. But when the phone rings, we have to talk and talk about the whole situation. Against whom, I don't know. But fighting again this year is most likely”, concluded the 'Diamante'.
