The opening round, despite not having many emotions, was marked by high-level strategy between the two combatants. Aubin Mercier was more aggressive and used low kicks to score, while Horcher had difficulty finding the right timing for his strikes. The second round returned with Aubin Mercier insisting on low kicks and trying to put his opponent down. Even with great difficulty, the Canadian managed the takedown and mounted Horcher. The former UFC veteran remained on top and looked for space to get a submission. Immediately after the start of the last split, Olivier dropped Horcher again. Tired and without showing any resistance, the North American showed no reaction to the veteran's attacks. With Aubin-Mercier dominant in the ground fight, the fight scenario passed without any change. The sound of the gong stopped the Canadian massacre.
