The holding of an Ultimate event in Brasília on September 4th has been widely discussed, but a “slip-up” by commentator Jon Anik could be confirmation of the fight night in the Brazilian capital. Anik mentioned the organization of a show on this date in Brasília during an interview with journalist Steph Daniels, from the website MMA Sentinel.
While talking about his participation in future Ultimate events (Anik is paired with the former fighter Kenny Florian in charge of broadcasting events that are not of pay-per-view), the commentator mentioned the holding of a UFC in Brasília on September 4th. The show should be part of the UFC Fight Night series, which returns in partnership with the FOX Sports 1 channel on Wednesday nights.
Still on the subject, journalist Mookie Alexander, from the website Bloody elbow, recalled that the premiere of the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter takes place on the same date and on the same channel. Airing a fight card right after the first episode of the season of its reality show was a common UFC practice, but it was abandoned after TUF 12.
If confirmed as the venue for this edition of UFC on FOX Sports, Brasília will be the sixth Brazilian city to host an edition of Ultimate – joining São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Jaraguá do Sul and Fortaleza. This would be the fifth time that the UFC would arrive in Brazil in 2013 alone.
