The eight athletes classified for the quarterfinals of TUF Brasil 2 have been defined. In the eighth episode of the series, shown this Sunday (05), Cleiton Foguete and Thiago Marreta guaranteed a place in the next phase. Foguete took advantage of the fact that Daniel Gelo didn't make weight and advanced without going into the octagon. Marreta faced his teammate, Pedro Iriê, in the repechage fight, and secured his place in the unanimous decision of the judges.
The program
The episode began with the expectation of the announcement of the repechage fight. The athletes who were defeated in the first phase spoke about the possibility of returning to the competition. However, there was a surprise in the official announcement. Instead of one representative from each team, the UFC organization selected Thiago Marreta and Pedro Iriê, both from the Fabricio Werdum. Furthermore, the duel between Daniel Gelo, who replaced the injured Yan Cabral, and Cleiton Foguete was made official.

Despite the problem with Daniel Gelo, the repechage fight was confirmed. Pedro Iriê weighed 77 kg, the same weight as Thiago Marreta.
The fight
Before combat begins, Fabricio Werdum, coach of the fighters on the program, said he would divide the team to give instructions during the break. However, no one would guide the athletes during the dispute.
With two athletes specializing in striking, the duel for the last spot in the quarterfinals was entirely on the feet. Pedro started the fight better, combining punches and kicks to Marreta's thigh. In turn, Thiago tried to respond with counterattacks.
However, at the end of the first round the story began to change. With greater reach, Thiago began to keep the fight at medium distance. Furthermore, he worked with straight strikes, keeping Iriê out of range.
In the final minute, Pedro still tried to attack, but was unable to land a blow on his rival. At the end of 10 minutes of competition, Thiago Marreta Pedro Iriê beat Pedro Iriê in the unanimous decision of the judges and advanced in the dispute.
