In the main fight UFC 265, held last Saturday (7), Cyryl Gane knocked out Derrick Lewis and became the new interim UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg). The belt, however, doesn't seem to have gone to the Frenchman's head.

Asked if he believes he is the best heavyweight in the world in a post-fight press conference, the new interim champion stated that he needs to prove himself for more years and recalled that the division's linear title still belongs to Francis Ngannou.

“I think I'm one of the best in the world. This belt here has to mean something. I don't want to say I'm the best, because the champion is still Francis Ngannou and I need to face all the guys in the division to be the best. I need to prove myself for more years and then say that I am the best”, said Gane.

The victory over Derrick Lewis was the tenth in his career Cyryl Gane, who still doesn't know what it's like to be defeated. Now, the Frenchman's next challenge will be against the Cameroonian Francis Ngannou, owner of the linear belt. Gane, however, stated that he may need some time off before the big challenge.

PUBLICITY:

“I've done a lot in the last year and a half, and as you know I'm expecting a child, so I want to rest a little. I don’t know exactly (when the fight will be), we’ll see”, he concluded.
