As the heavyweight division scenario unfolds, the debut of Jon Jones in the new category still seems far away. In a press conference after the UFC 265 this Saturday (07), Dana White declared that the debut of the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93) in the new weight range should only happen in 2022.

“He (Jones) shouldn’t fight this year. He should only fight in 2022. It’s still 2021 and I’m not thinking about him before 2022”, declared the UFC President.

The greatest fighter in light heavyweight history, Jones is still waiting to make his first fight in the new category. During his reign, 'Bones' has already defeated names like Daniel Cormier, Lyoto Machida, Vitor belfort, Chael Sonnen, between others. The American has an MMA record of 26 wins and just one loss.

If he only returns in 2022, Jones could end up completing two years of inactivity. His last fight was in February 2020, at UFC 247, when he defeated Dominick reyes in a decision that generated a lot of controversy in the world of MMA.
