“Oscar de La Hoya is a superstar in the world of boxing and one of the greatest and most popular fighters of our time. While we have a lot of respect for each other's achievements, on September 11th I will make MMA fans proud. I will show that MMA fighters and former UFC fighters can take down even the best boxer in the world. I hope I don't end up killing him. But the cards are all on the table. We will fight until the end, like gladiators, leaving everything we have in the ring”, said Belfort.

Despite being a black belt in jiu-jitsu under the tutelage of Carlson Gracie, Vitor belfort made a name for himself in MMA using mainly his fists. Former light heavyweight and UFC heavyweight tournament champion, the “Phenomenon” is considered a specialist in boxing applied to MMA, but has little experience in the noble professional art.
