After beating Patrício Pitbull, AJ McKee reinforces his desire to dethrone the Brazilian also at lightweight

The sky is the limit for A. J. McKee. New featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) at Bellator, the athlete has even bigger dreams for his career. After running over the legendary Patrick Pitbull last Saturday (31), the North American admitted to promoting a new chapter in the rivalry against the Tupiniquim in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg.). In the press conference after the show, the young man reinforced his desire to win his second title in the company.

“I want to be a double champion. It's making this belt become two. That's the next step. (…) I practically cleared the featherweight division. So, I'll move up to lightweight. He (Patricio) is the best in the category up to 70,3kg. He was the best,” said the fighter.

Even before sharing the cage with Pitbull, McKee never hid his desire to test himself in the top division. In the week before the clash, the fighter was already counting on an immediate rematch with the Brazilian, but at lightweight.

In the confrontation against Patrício, AJ had no difficulty overcoming the Bellator legend. The fighter didn't give the Brazilian a chance and submitted his rival with a guillotine choke in the first round.

PUBLICITY:

Considered one of the biggest names in the company's history, Pitbull led the featherweight division between 2017 and 2021. The Tupiniquim hasn't lost a duel since 2016.
