Considered one of the biggest challengers in the career of the legendary Patrício Pitull, A. J. McKee has been calm before the most important fight of his career. Opponent of the potiguar in the fight for the featherweight title (up to 65,7kg.) and GP of the division, the young man remains confident that he can surprise the champion this Saturday (31), at Bellator 263.
In a press conference, the fighter described the weapons he has to make history and overcome the Brazilian. Without being intimidated, the North American also confirmed his desire to move up a division and seek the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg), also led by Patrício.

“I am faster, younger and stronger. I need to fight intelligently, assert my stature. I need to make him bring his game. Everyone else went after him. Let’s see what he does,” McKee said.
Ready to take on the role of the biggest name in Bellator history, AJ understands that the highlight of his career will not come just with a possible victory this weekend. The fighter has bold plans to continue his career, if he shocks the world and ends Patrício's hegemony.
“If I win 18 in a row in the category (today, the athlete has 17), there is nothing left for me to do. I want to go up and win the lightweight belt too. I've been asking for this before Conor (McGregor), before him (Pitbull), before everyone. I said I would be a double champion. It’s time to realize my achievements”, he concluded.
Moments after AJ's statement, tension took over the press conference. After a speech by the North American, who mentioned the potiguar's wife and son, Patrício got angry and they both almost came to blows.. The turmoil increased when the challenger 'took' one of the Tupiniquim's belts, provoking the champion's even greater anger. After the incident, Pitbull left the event.
At 26 years old, McKee can be considered the biggest name ever revealed by Bellator. In the organization since his first fight, the fighter doesn't know what it's like to lose in 17 fights.
On the other side, Patrício will have yet another test in his extensive and successful career. This weekend, the Brazilian will have the opportunity to defend his featherweight title for the sixth time, in his second reign.
