protagonist of UFC Las Vegas 33, which takes place this Saturday (31), Sean Strickland had a major reinforcement in his preparation for the confrontation against Uriah Hall. A standout middleweight (up to 83,9kg), the North American admitted to having done training sessions with Khamzat Shimaev and praised the Swede. In an interview with James Lynch, the athlete spoke about his Ultimate pupil.

“He was in town (Las Vegas) for a few weeks. It was fun. He had good weapons. He's a guy who, as far as a training partner goes, is the perfect fit for me. He doesn't stop, he trains hard. If you are fighting him, he is capable of going to the death. You can't say: 'I will choose you and beat you'. You have to go in there and think: 'one of us is going to die'. If you don't have that mentality, he'll screw you over,” said Sean.
After experiencing Chimaev's talent firsthand, Strickland reinforces what many have said about the Swede, who is undefeated in his MMA career. In 2020, UFC president Dana White admitted that he had never seen an athlete with Khamzat's characteristics.
No UFC 267, the organization's bet will return to action after experiencing a personal drama. At the end of 2020, the fighter was affected by Covid-19 and had serious consequences from the disease, even considering early retirement.
On October 30, Khamzat will face li jingliang and will try to defend his unbeaten record in his career. If he overcomes the Chinese, Chimaev could reach the top 15 welterweights.
A new fan of the Swede, Strickland will have a tough commitment this weekend. For the UFC Las Vegas 33, the athlete will share the octagon with Uriah Hall and will try to extend its undefeated streak to five commitments, in addition to advancing in the category led by Israel adesanya.
