The victory of TJ Dillashaw about Cory Sandhagen in the judges' split decision, last Saturday (24), he won a strong supporter. Executioner of the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.) in 2019, Henry Cejudo came to the defense of his compatriot and stated that he agreed with the result. In a video published on social media, 'Triplo C' analyzed the confrontation.

“I'm actually very surprised by TJ. I wasn't betting on him, really, because I always thought Sandhagen was better at what TJ set out to do. But we have to credit this fight to wrestling, plan and will,” said Cejudo, in his account on Twitter.

Retired since 2020, Henry went further in his analysis of the main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 32. According to the American, Cory was able to be more forceful, but, for the former double Ultimate champion, Dillashaw was able to dominate his opponent for longer in the Octagon.

“The reason TJ won the fight – and I believe he did – even though he was injured, is that he controlled most of the time. I think we don't give credit to that. Most of the time, he was in a better position, kept him (Sandhagen) against the bars, took him to the ground. It didn't do much damage, but it did enough to 'steal' the rounds until the end. You have to give credit. I didn’t think he (TJ) would win, and I didn’t want him to win, but I think he did what he needed to do to beat Cory,” he concluded.

The weekend's engagement marked Dillashaw's return to the Octagon after serving a two-year doping suspension. In his last fight, TJ had moved down to flyweight (up to 56,7kg) to try for his second belt, more than two years ago. The opponent at the time was Cejudo himself, who ended up running over his opponent just 32 seconds into the fight, retaining the title. Months after the setback, the rooster icon would be caught and punished by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency).

After his victorious return, TJ put himself in a great position to try to regain his old title, taken in 2019. Now, the fighter must await the outcome of the soap opera involving the bantamweight champion, aljamain sterling e Petr yan, which have issues to resolve since the controversial fight in UFC 259.
